Hearings on Annual Plan submissions are underway and there’s plenty of them!
They kicked off on 14 April. That day I sat with four fellow councillors and the Mangere-Otahuhu Local Board in Manukau and heard local submissions on the the Auckland Council’s 2011/12 Draft Annual Plan.
Councillors are sitting with local boards all over the region for the rest of April hearing submissions from the public and organisations.

Good on the Waitemata Local Board for organising a walk of their ward boundary on 9 April.
Dubbed ‘beating the bounds,’ the concept derives from a very old UK custom where church members would walk their parish boundaries sharing fellowship and praying for protection. That was pretty much the theme for our walk too.
Orakei Local Board chair Desley Simpson, board member Kate Cooke and I walked the shared Newmarket boundary.
Here I am with Waitemata local board member Rob Thomas wrestling over the boundary at St Mark’s Road.
