Ellerslie Magazine, December issue: I am delighted and grateful to be the councillor for Ellerslie. Over the past five years I have worked closely with the Ellerslie Business Association as former chief executive of the Newmarket Business Association. (Here I am pictured with Sally Eustace, GM of the EBA).
The 2008 Ellerslie Future Framework document serves as a good blueprint for the protection, growth and ongoing improvement of the Ellerslie town centre. A lot of community consultation with went into this document. Let’s not reinvent the wheel just because we now have a new council.
In Newmarket we used our 2004 Future Framework document as a bible to argue for infrastructural upgrades, as well as public space, safety, and character improvements. Ellerslie needs to dust off its 2008 concept plan and feed it into all the short and long-term plans the new Auckland Council is embarking on, including the 2012-2022 Long-Term Council Community Plan and the region’s much talked about 30-year Spatial Plan.
It will be planning galore over the coming months. I strongly encourage Ellerslie businesses and residents to have their say. I am keen to foster Ellerslie’s unique character. It’s a great part of Auckland. Let’s keep it that way.
