It was great to be part of the Ellerslie Santa Parade on Sunday 5 December. They got a big crowd and the local business association does well with that one as it does so well promoting the fairy festival in September.
Afterwards I was invited to judge the local children’s art competition. Not an easy one. There were an array of prizes up for grabs but the overall winner gets $100 and their winning artwork is used for the Ellerslie Business Association Christmas card.
I thought Cameron Spelman’s bold artwork (below) would make a great Christmas card and he captured the brief well which was to demonstrate a distinctive Ellerslie Christmas. It’s bold and it cleverly includes the Ellerslie logo in the flag so I crowned him the winner. Cameron is a Year 6 student at Ellerslie School. His name wasn’t unhelpful either!
